Additional Information

Collection:  Uncap the fixative container to facilitate rapid fixation of the specimen.  Specimen is collected by gently massaging the breast in the direction of the nipple.  Allow secreted drops to fall directly into the fixative container.  Once all available material is expressed, recap the specimen container.  Fill out a cytology requisition and label specimen container including all pertinent patient information, name, medical record number, date of birth, physician and specimen type, including laterality.
