A sample from all Rh-negative women at risk should be tested to detect a large fetal-materal hemorrhage, which may require more than a single dose of Rh Immune Globulin for effect prophylaxis. Appropriate use of Rh Immune Globulin can successfully prevent alloimmunization to the D antigen.
Special Handling Instructions
Positive identification of the patient. When applicable, compare the hospital wristband with the patient information on the request form. Label the tubes with the patients' full name, unique identification number (eg: medical record number, typenex number), date, time, and initials of collector (two sets of initials)
